I'm travelling alone, I want to take pictures of myself in motion, so I'm Looking for a camera with some intelligent timing features, combined with continuous mode. What I envision is this: Mount the camera on a tripod, and manually (!) focus it on a certain distance. Set the camera to continuous mode. Set the self-timer to, say, 60 seconds.
Start the self-timer and the stopwatch at the same time. Jump on the bike, go around the next curb, u-turn back, stop before I get into the camera's view, wait (using my stop watch) until the 60 seconds have almost expired, then ride into the camera's view. When the camera goes off, it should shoot one or a series of picturs in rapid succession.
I have recently discovered the new 5 Mpx Canon Powershot S2 IS which has a self timer of up to 30 seconds (more than most others, but probably still not enough) combined with continuous mode as described above. So that one is close to my needs.
Also, it has a supposedly very useful "time lapse" feature. The camera can take any number of images at an interval of your choosing (1 minute or more). You can set up the camera, at, say, 2 minute intervals, 12 pictures, start the camera, and then, by going by your stopwatch, ride into the camera's view every 2 minutes, a dozend times. Sounds like another good match for my requirements.
I think I'll get the Canon S2 unless there is an even better choice for my needs.
Does somebody know of other cameras with similar features?
