Russland, Khabarovsk
Hi,
I am with my Transalp 650, BJ 2007, 130,000 km, continue on a world tour. Currently I am in Khabarovsk. Recently, I have an unknown problem. When driving makes the ignition sometimes dropouts. Sometimes it turns out only seconds and sometimes completely. After stopping, I can start and drive again. I do not know when they will occur again and how long it takes. I suspect a loose connection. But where should I look? Does anyone know the problem or has advice for a diagnosis?
Best Regards
Hartmut

Hartmut again,
I am not that familiar with the 65o Transalp, as I ride an Africa Twin. But the first thing I would check is the side stand switch. You will find a good mechanic in Khabarovsk, just talk to a biker he will tell you where to look.
Are you going to Vanino or to Vladivostok ....?
Gruss

Hi Mika,
nice to read from you. I have jiggled the ignition switch and found nothing. The side stand, I also suspected. I have reached Khabarovsk to 23,000 kilometers in less than 3 months. Unfortunately, my third crash has the right side fairing and windshield completely destroyed. This is my most difficult journey so far. I live here in the Motorcycle Club Lynxes of Amur. There you have new Heidenau tires from Moscow ordered as air freight. Should arrive today. I can wait for my Visa maximum of 3 days to get the ferry from Vanino after Sakalin. I hope so easy to get into, like Heidi and Bernd 3 years ago in Japan.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
