hola,

dont expect a well equiped bmw shop. the workshop is more for wheel alignment for cars.

Edgardo is a very nice man, he speaks fluent German and I think Peter left Temuco in 2001.

I think the next bmw shop from Temuco is in Santiago only 700km away.

have a look at the German flag when you arrive at his workshop.

Saludos

Mika

Hi Mika,
thanks for the reply. BMW Santiago has quite a bad reputation, however I'm not so sure about Servitrain. I'll better have my stuff fixed somewhere in Santiago (although not at the BMW guys...).
Thanks & kind regards
Winfried

MOTO-MASTER is a bike dealer right on RUTA 5 at address 380 Caupolican. Has all brands and fixes most anything. Good honest people. Bought a new bike there. Have had lots of good service there including storage of my moto. The address is about two blocks north of the high-rise that has a COCA-COLA sign on it. Its on east side of road. Opens at 10 am. Owner-Carlos. Spanish only.

Moto Master in Temuco

Arlen is right - the Moto Master shop in Temuco is one of the few places in that part of Chile that can provide some useful assistance. They don't have a lot of parts, but I was able to get a KLR650 oil filter there a few weeks ago. I asked about a KLR clutch cable and they said they don't have replacements but bring your damaged cable and they will do a repair -- and they showed me the materials they use for repair (I just wanted a spare). Not as good as OEM but better than your broken one, eh? The owner is a good fellow and has helped many a foreign touring rider. If you can get your bike to limp into his shop, and there are spares anywhere in Chile, he will help get them air-expressed (and that is often not terribly expensive) within the country. There is a major airport in Temuco so you could have parts sent from US or other country via courier such as DHL in fairly short time. Customs clearance via Temuco airport usually not a major problem. So if you are stuck in Temuco, Carlos can be a good resource. Also good eating in the city - try Rapa Nui restaurant downtown.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
