Cuenca - Ecuador
It´s near the airport but at walking distance from the town centre.
Nice place, they speak good english, very helpful.
It is mainly a Harley Davidson dealer but they are as likely to work on big BMWs (We saw a 1200GS there when we went to buy oil for our bikes.)
Recommended.

It seems like Maria and I visit all of the same shops. The main mechanic at this shop is Richard and he really knows his stuff and they charge fair prices. A couple of things to look out for though is if you have a problem with your radiator maybe take the radiator to a different repair shop than the one that they are using. My radiator started to leak from the weld they made one country later. Also (if it is a bmw), go back and double check that all the parts they removed were installed correctly again. I noticed that a few of the wires and other things of minimal importance were not in the right location.
I spent a month learning Spanish in Cuenca and know all the motorcycle shops there. The shop that stocks the most parts and tires is Austro Motors address: Presidente Cordova I-71. They are kind of close to Esteban Motors and Richard will be able to give you directions if needed.

Sweet info there Maria and GG.
I have just arrived in Cuenca and will be looking for tires for my KLR. Will post how it goes.
GG: BTW How are the spanish schools there? Cheap or good or both?
Thanks!

Hi Peter, the Spanish schools are good. I think there are about 6 well known schools. I was able to get lessons on the side for $4 an hour from a professor who taught at one of the schools. She was really good and let me know if you want her contact info. I will have to search for it.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
