Bangkok to Shangri-La in China
This gruelling 14 day Adventure Motorcycling in Asia started for me in Ban Pong in Ratchaburi Thailand, then heading north to Phitsanulok, Phrae, Chiang Rai, crossing into Myanmar for the markets at Tachileik, then onto Chiang Klong, Lao border crossing at Huay Xai, then entering China and continueing to Muang Sing, Xishuangbanna, Lacang, Lincang, Dali, Lijang, and the final destination in the mountains of Shangri-La and snow.
Hell that was a mouthfull, in basic terms, starting 70km west of Bangkok, noth to the top of Thailand, across the top to the Laos border, then across Laos to the China border then north west into China towards Tibet.
The return route saw over 5500k traveled on my Ducati Hyperstrada 821 with a group of 25 bikes, two support vehicles, including the necessary Chinese guide.
Temperates leaving Thailand started at 35deg, and at the coldest point in the trip saw it drop all the way down to -11 and in the snow at the top of Bluemoon Valley at an altitude of 4600mtrs.

The whole journey has been turned in to a rough documentary on Youtube. I say rough because I wanted it to show the exhaustion I went through.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
