Autumn run to my favourite nearby biking playground, MOGANSHAN
Mount Mogan is a mountain located in Deqing County, Zhejiang Province, China, 60 kilometers from the provincial capital Hangzhou and 200 km from Shanghai.
It is part of the Moganshan National Park and at its base is the small town of Moganshan

Running into two three-wheeled Scooter riders in the Moganshan Mountains...

Autumn bike ride from Shanghai over to Hangzhou (Zhejiang Province) along the Grand Canal waterway system, the Dalian Lake wetlands promoting environmental improvements and education.
Route = National Road #320 Shanghai - Xitang - Jiaxing - Hangzhou.

Recycling along National Road #320 near Xitang Watertown (Zhejiang), recycling of all sorts (paper, glass, metal, etc.) is quite a big business in China...

Hold your breath while passing the fibreglass plant beside the National road #320, a city itself, massive and huge processing factory....

Hangzhou (Hangchow) lies in the north of Zhejiang province, in the Qiantangjiang delta, about 40km/25mi west of Hangzhou Bay, at 120°12'E and 30°15'N.
The rather tranqil town of Hangzhou, popularly known as ''Silk City'', is one of China's most beautiful towns; in the words of the well-known Chinese proverb ''In Heaven is Paradise, here on earth are Suzhou and Hangzhou''.
The famous ''Dragon Well'' tea (Longjing cha) which is hand-picked twice a year is grown in this region. More Hangzhou info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hangzhou

Hefang Old Street is a historical cultural street area located at the foot of the scenic Wushan Hill of southern Hangzhou and quite close to the famous West Lake.
As usual, snack food widely available.

Leaving Hangzhou, taking China #104 National Road to meet up with mates at the Moganshan Lodge: Moganshan Lodge for a group ride back to Shanghai.
This time of the year (autumn), the twisty mountain roads become a bit more dangerous and challenging due to the bamboo cutting and processing.
Stacks of bamboo along the road side and the small and large trucks with bamboo poles sticking out the back.

December 2013, once again to Hainan Island in Southern China for the festive year end season for some fun in the sun and disturbing the sleeping grass….

Preventive Jialing JH600 maintenance like oil change and a new green "high performance" chain, all work done at the Dadonghai bike shack….

Must be a training or stunt bike of some sort parked outside the Dadonghai bike shack…..

Ready to impress and upset the neighbours? The truck is ready to be picked up from MGM Hotel Yalong Bay (Hainan) front parking lot for RMB 3.8mil. (approx.600000$US).
The truck had temporary registration from Sichuan but could not make out the dates on the paper plate stuck behind the front windshield.

Massive construction projects everywhere including water & amusement parks, a very large multi floor Haitang Bay duty free shopping mall.
Atlantis Hainan: Atlantis Sanya, Hainan and Sea World Hainan (similar to Australia's Sea World / Wet n' Wild at the famous Gold Coast) are under development and construction as well.

Partially operational, weird Romance Park Sanya between Yalong Bay and Sanya under heavy construction.

The Jialing JH600 gets a bit of TLC and a final wash before stored away safely for the next bike trip on the island…..

Hainan Island ADV cruising to be continued during 2014, was not really motivated to take tons of pics during the trip…..

Another Chinese New Year holiday coming to an end over here: Chinese New Year - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Gong Xi Fa Cai", the traditional Chinese New Year greeting. But the Chinese don't stop at wishing for prosperity - they eat for it as well! 31 January 2014 marked the first day of the Year of the Horse.
Around 15 days of eating and greeting, the period over which Chinese New Year is celebrated. Air drying and curing various types of meats and homemade sausages outside homes, yards and restaurants is quite a common sight during the build-up to Chinese New Year.

Actually its not a bad time of the year to be around Shanghai and taking daily cruises with the mighty Jialing JH600 sidecar to the townships like Qibao.
Qibao is a town in Minhang District, Shanghai. Its formation can be traced back to the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, to the Northern Song Dynasty.
The name comes from the local temple, "Qibao Temple": Qibao - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
