My 47.000km journey all over Italy!
Hi Travellers!
Last month I got back home after my 6 month journey all over Italy. Starting the past 1st June I rode 47.000km visiting every italian region (1 week each one), discovering the best of each one with the help of local bikers who hosted and driven me. Furthermore, thanks to the support I have received by the Motociclismo magazine I could change bikes along the road. So, I tried 2 Bmw, 3 Ducati, 2 Honda and 1 Yamaha. Such a great experience, indeed!
I have created this Thread for sharing my journey with all of those willing to know more about Italy.
With the next post I'll show you pictures about my first week in Lombardy!
Here I was at the Motociclismo's headquarter, the starting point in Milan.
Cheers from Rome!

wow, that there is some truly serious mileage!
Gotta admit, that I really do love Italy, too! There is just........ well, EVERYTHING: mountains, beaches, history, architecture, culture, food... but I couldn´t stay for 6 months, or none of my clothes would fit me any more
Used to visit the country by bike 1-2 times a year, ridden all the way to Sicily several times, and never felt bored. My #1 country in Europe for sure.

We too had a problem leaving Italy on our RTW trip...Too much to see, eat and drink... Its our No1 country in Europe.
Bloody expensive in parts though...we are renting a two bedroom house in Crete for well under half the cost of camping in Italy. If this was not the case we would still be in Catania Sicily.
Italy...Simply stunning.

Hi Overland!
You're on a RTW...Wow, congrats!
Happy to hear you past in Italy on your itinerary...and that you liked it!
Yeah, it could be expensive if you come here during high season or if you don't know which places are cheap but close enough to your POI.
Next time...call me!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
