My trip will start in a few days

Only a few days at work and then, on the first of September, I will start my anual biketrip.
This year I'll go to the South of Spain to finish my NorthCape to Gibraltar "project" ( http://jkrijt.home.xs4all.nl/trips/n2g2/index.shtml )

Anyone in Barcelona, Gibraltar or Madrid who has some intersting info, please let me know.

I heard about big forestfires in the South of Spain. Is this a problem for visiting Gibraltar and Tarifa or is it already under control ?

I was in Gibraltar a couple of weeks ago - no forest fires.
The only issue there is the long wait to get over the border (dependent on aircraft landing/taking off).
Roads very busy

Jan,

that was about time! I enjoyed reading your blog.
We have vacationed the last two years in Catalonia and enjoyed it tremendously.

You ought to spend at least two days in Barcelona, there is so much to see. The Costa Brava is great, we also loved Girona and all those picturesque small towns, you can´t go wrong.

Peter,

My plan is to arrive in Barcelona in the afternoon. Find a hotel and then go sightseeing. The next day I'll spend the whole day in Barcelona.

I have heard from several people, barcelona is a beautiful city so I want to take a lot of pictures for my blog ;-)

Today I visited Barcelona. It is a beautiful city and I am sure I will come back here.

Tomorrow I won't go in de direction of Tarifa, as my original plan was.
In the short time and the limited budget I have for this trip, I had to make 600+ km rides almost every day and it is becoming more of a challenge then a fun holiday. I have done three 500+ km rides now and I did not have the fun I hoped for. I rather ride shorter distances and enjoy the scenery and stop often to take pictures.
I go for the fun relaxing holiday so after my visit to Barcelona, I will not go to Tarifa in the South but to Andorra in the North and then to Carcassonne and then .... I do not know yet. I like to enjoy riding my wonderful BMW on mountain- and countyroads, not just speeding on the freeway so that is what I will do the next couple of days.

My trip log with pictures is on http://jkrijt.home.xs4all.nl/trips/n2g2/page5.shtml

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
