North eastern Argentina,
this is my first attempt so please forgive any mistakes. My girlfriend and I are travelling around South america. we started in buenos Aires on 12th july and our bikes arrived on 16th. As i have read on previous threads dakar motos were brilliant at sorting out tjhe paperwork and helping us through the system. Unfortunately my KTM 990smt got a few miles down the road when we discovered that the rectifier had blown. Since my girlfriends BMW f650gs has the battery under the tank cover it was time consuming jump starting off her. We did find a KTM dealer though in AVe de libertar right over in the san fernando area where there were several other good bike shops. He had a KTM adventurer one in stock and it fitted my bike. I suggest that you fit it on the frame on the left hand side of the bike so as to allow it to cool better. I just took the mounting plate from the front of the battery(its only held on by two small screws and glue it to the frame with some epoxy. we have now done another thousand miles across some pretty rough terrain and its still there. i have heard of this being done before and i now reccomend it. We have driven north west and are now in Iguazu Falls. Anybody else around here. Would love to meet up. We will be here till 7/8 Aug.
