Paraguay: Trans-Chaco Highway
Hi,
Thought I'd let you know about my recent trip through Paraguay, as part of my RTW. We entered from Brazil, crossed through the country on the Trans-Chaco Highway and then entered Bolivia.
The riding wasn't that great (lots of long straights, mostly tarmac), but we had a very interesting & fun time out there with some motorcycle-crazy Mennonites. Hardly any tourists, incredibly friendly people and some interesting wildlife. One of the highlights was a 50-year-old BMW R69 GS in near-mint condition.
From what I understand, the guys out there in the Chaco want to set up a HU community, as they'd like to see more travellers coming through.
Also: We had absolutely NO trouble whatseoever with police or customs/immigration. No bribe-attempts, nothing.
