ratbikemike in mexico.
I've been on the road for 6 days now and I'm 3 miles from Mexico. It's not to early to get the blog up and going is it? The phone won't work in 3 miles' people are texting me .... I will post more this evening. I have already done a draft in ink. But for now I need to deal with the second issue of the day. Cross the border ...without rancor. mike

that water will get ya...
I'm in Saltillo Mx now and I'm riding only in the day light, only on main roads and now drinking only bottled water, cola and coffee. Local pills for this sort of bother can be had by talking to the mexican cutie in sign language and giving her $1.50us Food and shelter are also cheap as well. And just as much trouble to arrange. But there always seems to be a prince that helps out. Victor translated at the visa office because I was struggling. I drove off from 2 gas stations because I didn't know how to buy gas. At the third the 'helper' gave me his lunch! 'Eat like a Mexican!' And so I did. 300 miles, 95 degrees, border crossing and now finding a number of little things I'm not prepared for. Simple things that are easier dealt with when cooled down, fed and rested. I saw no banditos but I did see an impressive display of police power. About a doz. new and shiny 4door chevy trucks going quickly. Troops inside and also standing up in the bed with a large shield to hide behind while they shoot. Lots of ak47 looking guns and new uniforms on somber guys. The road block guys I talked to could now read my passport at all and we joked about the heat. Like a stop for a handshake. Mike

Happy belated birthday. Was thinking birthday same as anniversary, anyway HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Not all here, cause not all there. Of course you hit rain; all wet and laid up for 4 days. Better you than the bike, eh.
Well you know nothing happens by accident, reason for every thing. Hopefully it'll put you at right place at right time. Look for the coincidence, that will tell you, you know, there is no such thing as coincidence in God's world.
Well, chewing fat a little. Not one for rambling.
At least you rested plenty.
Take good care. And happy rambling on the bike. G-MAN

hurt by the water......
Everybody is working from the same page, ok? I drank the water and that stopped me for a few days. Got pills now and i'm more careful. The water did not rain down on me and cause a problem. Ya gotta be easy on da G-man, cause he's almost as old as me and like me, he sees things his own way sometimes. Got a heart of gold and proud to call him a good friend. Would trust him with my life but he is hard of hearing and such.

You do all right, Larry; I just misunderstood. And being slooow still gets it done. And if you learn how to tweet, teach me. I don't play that!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
