hi all,
last saturday my friend Mops & his TDM850 (who rode all the way from Germany 2 days to England before) and me & my Uly set off from my house in Wokingham at 6am to have a breakfast stop in the Lake district on our way to a short but intense Tour of Scotland.
i used my Helmet cam a lot so there will be a view videos too...the first one i have done so far...other will follow:
here is the link to the first vid:
YouTube - scotland.wmv
our we got the lakes just after 10am and stopped for some breakie at one of the lakes...Ambleside - i think it was.
After that we went towards Hadrian's Wall.
we than rode lovely little B-roads along the borders of Scotland & England until we finally entered Scotland:
we stayed the first & last night with friends Chris & Ann at their farm near Dunbar.
the next morning saw us heading off via Edingburgh towards Stirling and to enter the Highlands. first quick stop at Doune Castle...than up on the A82 through Rannoch Moor and into Glen Coe.
after a short "racing" lap round Kinlochleven - i even jumped with the Uly....and scared myself!!! we got to Fort Williams and stopped at the car park for a shot of Mops with Water!
further up the A82 - passed Spean Bridge and the Commando Memorial we got to Loch Ness and took more photos. than we agreed to head through Glenshiel towards Dornie were we found ourselve a nice Bed & Breakfast with a view to die for!
mops had to put his TDM in the shot too...
that was Sunday our second day over and it started to rain in the evening...
on Monday we woke up to more rain and we set off on what turned out to be a rain all day trip....lovely!
ooops:
the clouds were low and mountain tops not to be seen...
we stopped at Plockton - lovely little place...
before heading up to Applecross and the pass over the mountain...here is my Uly at the halfway mark.
and here Mops's TDM further behind...
it rained horizontal and we got soaked! we stopped at the Applecross Inn for a hot pot of tea. after half an hour the sky sort of opened up a bit and we set off (still soaked) again..
than along the costal route to Kinlochewe and Ullapool...
before heading further North and East to get back to the other side...it rained there too and heavily so we headed back to Loch Ness and found a B&B for the night...
we had good food in the local pub...included Applecross Bay prawns which were difficult to eat! but tasted great...
Tuesday - the weather was a bit better or at least in the afternoon...we went over to Speyside and rode down via Glenshee...to Perth and than Edingburgh again...
we stopped at the Forth Road Bridge and the Rail Bridge...
Chris had told us that instead of coming down to him via the A1 we should take the costal route to Dunbar - which we did and took some great shots of the cost, a powerstation and Bass Rock...
another great evening at Chris & Ann's farm brought our trip to near the end...we only had to do another 400mls back down south...we stopped only to re-fuel and at the angel of the north..
in total i got just under 1700mls done and mops did about 3500mls as he head to ride back to Germany the following day....
a great trip, but too short!
thx Lars
