Jack
Read your book - even bought it . I did enjoy most of it but found your criticism of some people/places a little harsh but can fully understand the frustration of dealing with both outsiders and your polish riding mate. I give you full marks for writing it as you see and feel it.
I have only travelled solo: Central America, South East Asia, Morocco, Turkey, Europe and New Zealand so only had to put up with myself. At my age, bureaucracy tends to be easier to manage/handle for some reason. I just put on a bemused smile and wonder on. I have refused to pay artifical fines asking quietly to be taken to a superior to discuss. I pay a little extra for legal assistance on my travel insurance I also ask if I can contact a lawyer or my friend in the Ministry of tourism before I make any payment to see if it is justified . And I always have no cash on me when they want it saying I was just on my way to an ATM. So far worked three times for me.
But a big well done on having the discipline to sit down and write a book and giving a lot of us enjoyment.
regards
Peter
