UK to Australia - Two Up On A Scooter
Oh, how I'd love to claim a link to this, but I can't, but having spent a happy day reading I thought I'd pass on the story of Michael and Nita Marriott.
In 1956 they set off from the UK on their 150cc NSU Prima, next stop Australia. They published a book, but of course it's long out of print, but it's been reproduced with their permission as a blog, which you can read HERE.
I love these kind of stories, they fill me with a "can-do" spirit while I sit here reading about which of the latest GPS systems I can't afford.

Great find - It takes a special type of person to even consider a trip like this.
Is there a way to reverse a blog so you don't start at the end???
It would make reading alot easier.....

I've just started reading this - fascinating read, especially the historical elements. The world has changed in so many ways since then, but the world is also so similar in many ways.

Fantastic find Alex - that's amazing!
I think I'm going to run the blog through blurb ( Make your own book with Blurb) and have it turned into a book to make reading a little easier though.

Yeap they're top notch and not that expensive really - I've done a book of my Morocco blog from them and it's turned out really nicely.
@farqhuar - quite right too - it's just sometimes I want something to put on my shelf so I can read it again later and just have something 'solid'

For anyone interested I am nearly half way through the Peter Moore book 'Vroom with a view' In search of Italy's Dolce Vita on a '61 Vespa.
Not a bad read

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
