Argentina to Colombia
I have been racking my brain the past few days trying to figure out how to get to Colombia from Argentina via an interesting route but have come up empty.
We (2up on an 1100gs) would leave Viedma, Argentina mid December and would need to be in Colombia by mid February (2 months to get there). The thing is we want to avoid the Panamericana, and the Amazon. So basically, the coast of Peru is not an option (once was more than enough) nor is the highway up from Manaus into Venezuela (or the ferry up the amazon in Peru for that matter). Sure, we could avoid some of the Panamericana by going into Bolivia but we have already been.
Our preferred route would have been:
Brasil (Iguazu, Campo Grande, Cuiaba, Porto Velho, Rio Branco) then into Peru (Puerto Maldonado, Cusco, Abancay, Huancayo, Huanuco, Huaraz, Cajamarca, Piura) then into Ecuador (Cuenca, Quito, Otavalo) then into Colombia. Nice scenery and a few challenges based on various posts here on the hubb.
But December, January and February seems to be the worst time (rain) to do this route. So what does that leave us with as a way to get north?
Any ideas?
