Army Escort through Balugistan

Hello whats the score with getting an Army escort through Balugistan?

Do they herd all the vehicles at the border or do you have to arange it when you get there?

I take it you are refering to Buluchistan?

The police will find you and arrange an escourt where they feel it is appropriate....

Friendly country - you are very unlikely to have any problems, inshallah.

I do not know about coming from Iran, but from the east at some point (Jacobabad) I was told I should wait for my escort. From then on, I was handed over to other escorts every now and then (I was told at the borders of the police districts). Sometimes cars, sometimes they looked like that:

It depends on the situation of the day/week you cross. If the tribes are restless, most likely you'll get picked up at the border when you cross. If they determine you need an escort, they make sure you get one. No need to go looking for it. When I went from Zahedan (Iran) to the Paki border, I could not get there without an escort. Others reported not to have had one. On the Pakistan side, to Dalbadin and Quetta, I had no escort. This was August 14/16 this year.Better to avoid the escorts if you can. They are a pain in the ass.

There is a good hotel when when you get into Dalbadin, on the right hand side of the road just as you enter "town". 150 rupees a night. The power goes off at 11:30 pm. Enjoy.
In Quetta, try Hotel Bloom Star coordinates hddd mm ss.s N30 11 21.2 E67 00 18.4

It's where most overlanders hang out.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
