Camping near Amsterdam?

I would like to camp near the ocean, Amsterdam area, end of August.

Any nice spots you know about?

How safe is the area?

Thanks

Spaarnwoude is a good camping area to the west of Amsterdam. Set in the middle of a park-style conservation area, it has the usual canals surrounding it but isn't that close to the beach I'm afraid.

If my memory serves me correctly there is beach side camping (minus the dyke) in a little village called Lisse slightly further north.

Hope this helps,

Ben

There is also a great camping site in central Amsterdaam, just north of the river and close to the ferries that take you across to Centraal Station. you can ride to the centre in about 5 minutes from here. I´ve forgotten the name though.

Thanks guys for the input! Sounds like there might be some nice places to camp.

i posted the same on the regional forums, and Luuk from Netherlands provided a website with a list of campsites near Amsterdam:

Parking my Bike safely in Amsterdam

Hey Guys,

I am making a tour trough Europe by bike and I'll fly from Amsterdam Schiphol to London for a weekend tomorrow. At the moment I am in a hotel near Koln and tomorrow I will drive to Schiphol, leave my bike overthere and take my plane to London. I only have one question: I want to park my bike secured near the airport. I found this site Parkeren Schiphol, but it is not clear if there is a possibility to park my bike. Does anyone have some tips for me?

Kind regards,

Nick.

hi Nick,

It says at the shuttle parking service: "mogelijkheid om motor, camper of aanhangen te parkeren''
That means: possible to park motorcycles, campers or trailers'

Not cheap though....

I live between the North Sea coast and Schiphol (both about 10 min. drive). you could park your bike in my garage. Or sleep in my house
