Camping Spots/Roads worth riding SA esp argentina
i recently looked up some trip to igwassu falls from Florianopolis on a coach and then though ;f*ck that!' and bought a honda xl700 transalp. What started as a tipsy/drunken thought about riding through south america all the way to california actually is happening. ive got all my tools i need, i think, and my camping gear.
But i have struggled to find good spots to camp. the roads are something i have researched as ive gone along.
I was hoping someone could give me some advice on camping rough and any good roads worth making a detour for.
I'm leaving florianopolis in brazil, then going to iguassu falls, uraguay, argentina down to the bottom via ruta 40, up chile and rest of south america, all the way up to brazil. if you have anything that you think might be useful please share them with me instead of your non rider mates who don't care about your 'biker stories'
thanks
p.s.sorry for the spelling im an awful person

Hi, ioverlander, as above mentioned, is probable one of the best. Also worth checking is s&m boilerworks for detailed account of places to stay.
Any spot that is quiet, away from the road & houses is good. If you feel comfortable in a spot then go for it. n Also handy if you are in remote areas is to carry some food & water on the bike, that way if you find a spot that ticks all the boxes you can set up camp & chill, without having to make a detour to stock up.
Enjoy the trip
Vince

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
