Cape Town to Europe -- Advice Needed
I have cross posted this in the "paperwork" area regarding the Carnet. I also need help with routing.
I am starting a trip in S. Africa in January 2017 and will buy a bike there and ride to Europe -- and will not be returning to S. Africa with the bike. I am welcome to all ideas and input! I believe that if I buy the bike, most areas along the east coast do not require a carnet (with the exception of Kenya and Egypt -- and they allow a temporary import permit). Is it possible to get the carnet in South Africa and not return with the bike (cancel it, sell the bike, etc.)? Where is the best/cheapest/easiest place to buy the carnet?
Also, can I presently pass through Sudan? Challenges? Any advice is helpful. I want to take about 4-5 months until I reach Europe. I am open to routing suggestions if you found places and riding spectacular.
Is it possible to take a car ferry to Jordan or Israel from Egypt?
I appreciate everyone's help in advance! chris@planetearthquest.com.

i am doing the same
I am riding Jo burg to Europe next may , you don't really need a carnet , especially if you have an african bike, I bought one in South Africa in 2013 , it was pretty easy , you just need an address and do an affidavit to say you are a tourist, yes can't agree ore about Wild dog forum, all the help you need , and you would prob find the bike on there as well, i just found my bike for next years trip on their for sale part of the site
Cheers dave

I am very interested in learning if it is possible to take a ferry to Jordan or Israel from Egypt. Hopefully others on this forum know. Good luck on your travels.

Ferry from Egypt of Ethiopia
With the troubles in Sudan, I am curious if there are any ferries (or ways to easily ship) the motorcycle from Ethiopia to Israel -- and if not to go all the way to Greece. I am simply trying to build my options of transport at this time. All help is greatly appreciated! chris@planetearthquest.com.
