Cell phone coverage in Copper Canyon???

Anyone know if Verizon has coverage in the area? Tried to contact them but was on hold forever. Thanks!!!

Also, Do I need any other documents to cross the border other than passport, title to bike / truck, drivers lic, and credit card? Are travelers checks a good idea to bring?

Thank you in advance.

I was at Copper Canyon 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately I didn't try to use my cell while I was there, so re: Creel or environs, I'm not sure. Caution though- before I left I called Verizon to see if I could use my cell phone while in Mexico. The tech said yes, just activate roaming while I was in the States (*228 or something, confirm). She warned me that "not all areas would be covered". I thought, fine, I can't get a signal everywhere here. BUT- I got no coverage until I was in (near) Mazatlan. Nothing all the way down even though there are TelMex Cell towers everywhere. When I did get through, it was expensive, .21/minute roaming. I ended up using pay phones with my long diistance account from http://www.nobelglobe.com/products_services.html cheap and easy. Have a good trip!

I was just there past week and probably by tomorrow I will have my trip posted on my web site. Please check there if you are interested.
This forum help me a lot on the trip planner here:

Verizon was working on Creel, I didn't complete any call, but I called my awnser machine at home (if was 3 rings, I had no message and I hang up) and it worked. I hope I won't get charged for that.
I had to enable my phone for international calls before leave, but I had it done from a previous trip to Brazil few weeks before.

Didn't find a need for phone there.

my trip are on the site:

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
