Chinese visas in UK

Despite planning a trip east via Iran things didn't go well with our Iranian visas and we had to quickly swing our attention north and put together a trip through the stans and China in a week.

In China we used Ablimit from Kashgar New Land International who offered a good package and supplied detailed documentation for transit visas including LOIs itinerarys, certificates and hotel bookings. We presented all of this to the Chinese visa centre in Manchester only to be told we need tourist visas and we had the option of being instantly rejected or them keeping our passports for a month while they thought about it.

After a 5 minute panic we went to see Raj at Unique Visa Services (raj@uvsuk.com), they also have offices in London.

Having explained our situation on Thursday afternoon he not only gave us friendly reassurance but for a fair fee had our passports back with tourist visas the following Tuesday. What would have been a show stopper got fixed and we can't speak too highly of him.

My advice- Chinese visas are a minefield and our decision to diy could have ruined everything. Go straight to him.

Thanks for the advice Chris - what was the problem with your Iranian visas? We have 6 months until we are leaving the UK so we have a little more time to fix any issues you may have encountered but we are hoping to go through Iran on our way back from Mongolia to UK

Strange you had a hard time initially getting your Chinese visas.

I have had loads of them, all very easy.
1 month, 3 month, 6 month,
Some up to 1 year, multiple entry / exit.

Its really not difficult.

I see it as almost a "bought visa"

I always go in person to the Chinese visa office in Manchester city centre.
You can also go to the consulate in Manchester Rusholm for several alternative visas, eg, working, teaching, Z visas ect.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
