Condition of roads around southern coast of Lake Victoria
Hi all,
In Dar es Salaam at the moment and just wondering if anyone knows the condition of the roads round the southern coast of Lake Victoria? We are thinking of driving through Ngorongoro Conservation Area & Serengeti National park, heading West along the bottom of lake Victoria, towards Rwanda.
Specifically, there seem to be 2 routes through Serengeti; one where you exit the park nearish Seronera/Banagi, drive to Bunda, then west towards Mwanza; the second where you drive within the park from Seronera to the westernmost point of the park, Serengeti NP gate. Any ideas which of these is the better road? Also, from Bunda via Mwanza, Usagara, Sengerema and Geita, does anyone know what these roads are like? some of them look like dotted lines on my map, not a good sign but might not be all that bad...From Geita to Lusahanga looks like dotted lines as well but then looks like its a good road from there to the Rusumu Falls border post with Rwanda.
PS this site has been enormously helpful with planning our trip. We are driving from Cape Town to London up the east coast of Africa, through EUrope to Morocco then back down the west coast back to Cape Town. Our blog is www.moonspaghetti.com
thanks
Mary & Brett
