Wish I'd seen this earlier....I've put a bike on the train from west to east (El Fuerte to Chihuahua). Not a problem but there are no ramps. When the train pulls up, be ready to pick your bike up and get it into the box car. The train has very little time in the station and will leave with you still in the box car (lashing down the bike as best you can). Bring some mechanics wire to loop through the sides of the box car. Tie down hooks won't fit. After you get the bike lashed down and have paid the guy in charge of frieght, you jump down out of the car at the next stop and run back to the passenger cars. It's a bit of work getting the bike in and out but if there are people around they will probably help you do the old heave-ho with the bike. Don't expect anymore help than that though. They don't do this often.
It's a great ride, but best done in the West to East direction so as to pass through the canyon country in daylight. Worth the ride and then some.
