Costs in North/East/South Africa
Hi all
I'm pulling together info from all over the web and numerous books to create a definitive spreadsheet of all the costs involved in travelling from the UK via France, Italy, Tunisia via Egypt to South Africa - and back again up to Egypt and through the Middle East. I will of course be very happy to email it to anyone who's interested once it's finished - just PM us.
(Incidentally - am I reinventing the wheel? Does all this info already exist in one place that anyone knows of?!)
These are categories I have gaps for: - Average cost of petrol per litre
I've also included the approximate number of miles to travel in that country, border to border, and therefore how much petrol will cost in total in each country, given your miles/litre.
- Cost of vehicle insurance
Land Rover not bike if poss! - to be bought on each border
- 'Rental' of licence plate
eg: for Egypt I believe the cost is around US$18 - but I don't know if every country in North/East Africa requires you to have one?
- Any other border charges / customs duties involved in entering or exiting the country
eg: in Sudan, I believe there is a US$50 'registration charge' for each passport, which you need to sort within your first week in the country
Info needed for all the following countries:
Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey.
I'll obviously keep plugging away with my research too, but any help you can offer would be hugely appreciated. And just let us know if you want a copy of the final spreadsheet.
Cheers x Rosie
