From Asia to Europe.

Hey folks,

I have a very special question today...

I'm now in Thailand for a long term trip. But in 2017 I'll go back to Switzerland. I don't have any motorbike driver license, but I would like to go back from Thaïland to europe by motorcycle.

My plan is to get a non-immigrant visa in Thailand and do my driver license here. I already have my car driver license, but sadly, this one isn't valid to drive a motorcycle.

But I've read, that this is super hard and expensive to cross China with your own motorbike.

The purpose of my trip is to not take any plane. I came by train, so the easiest solution is probably to take a motorcycle right?

So I have some questions:

1)What is the best country to do my driver license is Asia? (probably Thailand, I already know how to do it and have Thai friends...)

2) If crossing China is a lot of troubles. What is the best country to begin and buy&register a motorbike? Russia? Mongolia? Doable with tourist visa?

3) If I can only buy a Motorbike in Thailand, can I send it from Thailand to Mongolia/Russia?

I'm not totally new with Motorbike. I've done a lot of scooter in Thailand and I was a pro cyclist. I feel quite confident to drive a lot. But not in heavy circulation like Bangkok.

Thank you in advance!!!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
