Heard about another option for getting to Aus (alas too late for us to use). There is an Aussie called Warren Goulding that is doing a freight run in a steel hulled yacht from Kupang to Darwin! He has apparently taken another bike (BMW 1100 with side car) before. So you could have a nice sailing trip along with your bikes and save yourselves the airfares.

We didn’t manage to track him down but think his Aus ph is 0061 88 9815551 & mobile 04 38633249.

The other way to get in touch with him is via Edwin Lerrick, the guy that runs L’Avalon bar in Kupang. He has put several other travellers in touch with Warren.
