Sounds good, what about Iran and Pakistan? They were two of my favourite countries. An Australian couple did a similar route in 2003 (with much media coverage: ABC radio and The Age) they racked up about 40,000 km. I did 37,000 India-UK but with a large detour through Central Asia/Russia.

Shakabra,
You're asking TOO much for someone to answer properly with less than a book - or a website like this! Virtually everything you want to know, such as carnet information, is on the website, all you need to do is look around a bit and use the search button top right - it works very well! Have a lok at the menu on the right - there's a ton of info there.
When you have specific questions that aren't already answered many many time's- such as the carnet question - come back and everyone will be very happy to help! Half the fun of planning is in the research!

Grant is right. A book is what you need to provide some of the answers to your questions. Look in the "Books" section of this website, where you will find one of mine entitled "From Nordkapp to Cape York on a Motorcycle." It desribes my trip around the world from London via Australia, about the same route you're planning to take, in about four months, on a BMW F650.

We rode UK - NZ 2003-05 - check out our blog.
As Sean said Iran and Pakistan are 2 of the best countries on the route - I would also not miss Indonesia.
If you have any queries drop me an email.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
