RTW - Australia to Germany on CT110s
Hey!
Im planning a RTW trip to Germany from Brisbane, Australia. It'll be me and my best mate both on CT110s.
The trip is planned to begin around the end of 2024 with the start of the route looking something like
Darwin, Australia > Timor Lest > Indonesia >Malaysia > Thailand > Somehow go over Myanmar into India > Pakistan > Iran > Turkey > Yet to rough out the rest.
I dont know where to start.
Who has done something simmilar? Is the route even possible? Will I need a guide in any of the countries? Will I need to apply for any Visas in my home country? Do you have any tips or tricks? Is there anything I should know?
I have so so so many questions. So for now I'm not neccessarily looking for answers, but posting this as a start to my journey on HU, also to see what feedback I get.
Thanks!

Entering Thailand with a non-local vehicle seems to be a question of timing and luck - sometimes possible, sometimes not.
There is currently no known good way to get through Myanmar overland. I suppose airfreighting a CT110 is not the most difficult thing (Ed March disassembled his Supercub and carried it as checked luggage!). Otherwise the current workaround is an expensive guided tour from Laos via China to Nepal.
Getting into Iran with an Australian passport is questionable.
Good luck!

If you do Timor make sure you visit Pousada de Maubisse on the road from Dili to Same on the south of the island.
Stay overnight if you can afford it.
Amazing Portuguese summer house.

The only other thing is in this world of geopolitical turmoil don’t get hung up on hitting every country - just have fun.

Presumably you know about Nathan Millward who rode his CT110 postie bike from Aus to the UK?
Probably worth reading up on his trip.

That was my first thought, along with needing to watch all of C90Adventures on yoochoob (but then that's good advice to anyone)

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
