Short Italy trip, first timer, need help.....
I'm going to take a quick trip to Italy, it will be my first trip. I'm thinking of Palermo, Sicily as my starting point, Straight across and into Italy. I would like to go into Venice. Can I return from Venice? I know I can fly out of there, but my concern is having my bike shipped to and from my start and end points. Does anyone have any advice on these points that could be helpful to me. You can contact me at unionroofer93@yahoo.com or right here through HUBB. Thanks for your time.

Italy
Hey Ron,
I am thinking about going through Italy as well. When were you thinking about taking the trip? Where are you flying in from? I live in Wiesbaden, Germany, just west of Frankfurt. I was thinking about going over thanksgiving or Christmas, but the problem for me is getting over the Alps. There aren't even trains that will take the bike over the pass. Not sure if I wan't to go the long way around via france or something to get there. What are you riding? I am on a BMW F800 GS. Just got it, and I am looking to take some smaller treks like that to prepare for a big one. You know, get the ins and outs of what I need ironed out.
Drop a line when you can.

Hi BFM, I don't think I'll be able to go before next summer. Planning and saving for the trip and then taking the time off work. I have a 2007 HD Road King with the hard bags. I'm toying with the idea of buying a trailer to pull with it. It would definitely be a big help in hauling camping gear and all the other junk. I live in Kansas City USA, just about the center of the country. I've thought about flying into Palermo, Sicily and having my bike shipped there. Head east into the southern tip of Italy, and end my trip in Venice. Have you ever made the trip before? Take care,
Ron

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
