Andrew,
Yes I can. If you get a Sumo Torque 250 or Advance Dakar 250, I will buy it from you at the end of your ride. Remember I need a month to order it in, get the paperwork and plate and bike prepped before you arrive so that you can just take off.

Hi Toby,
I read your post here as I am in the very early stages of planing our trip around SA. And I would be very interested in talking to you about the service you offer!
Although I live in Australia, I am a dual citizen having been born in Argentina. Would this make it easier for me buying a motorcycle in SA and crossing borders?
Cheers,
Fabrizio

Sorry, not been back on the site as now back in Brazil!
The shop told me I just needed to carry SOAT and the bill of sale, and if I got stopped to tell them the plate was on the way. Only had minor problems at parking lots where they wanted the plate number for security, but told them I was a gringo waiting for it and waved through! Judging by the mototaxis with "placa en tránsito" on the back I assumed it was all above board!
My only complaint about the Demolition is that the supplied off-road tyres are not comfortable on tarmac (very noisy and a bit bumpy), and will be replacing them with "mixtos" (hopefully Pirellis if I can find them) next year. when I return.

I am glad to see someone offering a service like this. I have been thinking of doing something like it for those traveling from the US into Mexico. I have a wholesale connection to a line of 200cc bikes. I know they are not all out racing bikes, or have all the quality of a $5500 Honda, but for around 1/3 the price, they make for the perfect 'disposable' bike; disposable in that you aren't going to cry giving it to someone wherever you end up, or selling it cheap back to the seller, or selling to a fellow traveller, etc. You can factor in the price as depreciation (like a straight up rental). Any money you get back is like bonus money!!

I will be arriving in Lima at the Beginning of January and I am very interested in this Motorcycle service. I tried writing a private message to Charapashanperu but i was told I need to make more posts since I am a new member of this forum. What type of information would be required for me a acquire one of your bikes?

Sorry Nic,
I was out on a tour and am just now getting to this...
I really need about 1 month to purchase the bike from you get it prepped, papered and license plate (unless you buy one of my used ones). Then when you arrive in Peru, we do about 3 hrs of paperwork to transfer it to your name (takes 15 working days), then you can take off immediately (using my papers, etc) on your ride. When the change into your name comes thru, then you can take the bike out of Peru.
If you buy one of my bikes, or a new one of the type I use for my tours, (and if you come back to Peru) then I offer to buy it back from you and will pass it on to another traveler!
Cheers! Toby

Kev,
Andrew and Tamzin are touring Chile right now on a chinese bike I bought for them for the beginning of their journey that started here in Peru. Andrew said it would be fine if anyone wanted to contact him about the experience. I will PM you his email.
Also arriving this month is Florian taking one of my slightly used Sumo Torques.
Next month Klaus and Ash will be taking to more.
Cheers! Toby

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
