syria and the recordplayer
howdy...
well further to the advice that people gave me regarding syria and the carnet, I have the said visa and am prepared as much as I think that I could be to set of...
a week next sunday I leave from my record collection/newcastle to a well known place for me, holland I then scoot through to meet my compadre in Germany. from there the only thing we have to really consider is how to get to syria so far it goes like this a bit.... from germany, czech rep. slovak rep. Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey around turkey. I note the recent post about turkish drivers and where to go and my previous post about it being 45 degrees celcius in south turkey/syria which I have accounted for though we are camping rough for the most part we'll need and love to shack up in the occassional hostel/pension which is also nice and needed. On the way back turkey, greece,albania Croatia/Bosnia herzegovina/croatia. slovenia alps alps alps france belgie ,nederlands, north shields, back to my record collection.
I love to ride of course and am well versed with travelling miles on the bike, no motorways though; I love dirty, small roads that curl and weave up mountain passes.
Given that I only have ONE month (work, life, money! (I ain't no movie star) blah blah blah blah) and the whole intention is to try to get to the destination then ride around whilst taking the journey in to. My point out of this long winded ramble is;
1.) please do tell me about your experiences if you have undertaken similiar and from reading posts there really are I'd really appreciate the advice.
2.) dodgy places which should be avoided I'm slightly uneasy about the albania thing if i'm truthful.
3.) from those that have been able to set up links to photos on the net what is the best way to do this cos I can crack on with that this week if it is managable.
strange, also people say to me have a nice 'holiday' which I guess is a nice sentiment/thought but I cannot even explain that its not really a holiday for me a holiday is more going away for one/two weeks and then of to the musee, beach, girl, tourism, restaurant. etc
cheers and peace simon
