I used them back in May 2013 (Sisa was the cheapest)I was on motorbike returning from Africa trip, very nice, professional,English speaking people, the only bad part is full intensive Inspection, search of your truck and your personal stuff when you arrive in Israel.
You will love Israel(I did).then you cross in Taba to Egypt.
Ferry from Egypt to wadi Halfa, That was a quite extraordinary experience.
If you travel with your adorable children, please pay and get cabin.
When you depart Egypt(Aswan) you can buy both tickets to wadi halfa for your family and your truck.
Over all very happy, nothing was missing from my motorbike,4 day later when cargo ferry arrived.
In Africa,Strongly recommend camping in catholic mission, safe and free.
Costal route(beaches)from Tanzania,Mozambique,amazing beauty.
I would secure visa for Ethiopia, north Sudan in your country.
It's inspiring, amazing, travel with young kids, you are the best parents in THE world!!!!!
Good luck
Roman

Hi,

When I crossed from Sudan into Egypt some 3 months ago, the only way to go was the new road. The ferry is no longer running for cars.
Contact Kamal (Egyptian side) and Mazar (Sudanese side) as fixers:

Hi again,
Thanks for your help and advice so far!
A long time ago, I somewhere read that there is a ferry operating between Saudi Arabia (Jeddah?) and Sudan (Port Sudan?). Unfortunately, I can't figure out where exactly I got that information from. Searching the net has brought no satisfactory answer so far. Can anybody help?

Hi there!

We drove from Belgium to South Africa and we might be able to give you some info

1. No idea about the shipping, we drove to Turkey and then took a ferry to Egypt
2. We got a visa for Egypt on the ferry, was valid for 30days I think. Our visa for Sudan we got in Egypt (in Aswan), we had to wait a week and validity is 30days
3. We were a while ago in Egypt and Sudan, so not up to date with safety, but we were in a problem time in Egypt, and we were very safe. They wanted to protect the few tourists they had and they were extremely friendly and we even got some (unnecessairy) police escort on a part of our way. For Sudan, its so safe! As long as you stay in the North . We took the ferry from Egypt to Sudan, but recently the road has been opened, so no need to take the ferry anymore! (although it's a once in a lifetime thing )

Have a look on our website for our stories and we also have a travellerspage on the website Home (left corner you can change the language). Of follow us on facebook! http://www.facebook.com/waarisworteltje Feel free to contact us if you have any more questions.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
