Used to be possible at Wakkanai port, but not any more http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...hokkaido-81084
I heard that has been possible at Hakata port coming from Korea, but I would have a backup plan (or a carnet) as this can change depending on who is working in Customs.

That's great Chris thanks
So my next question, if I book in advance to have my bike shipped to the USA from Japan do you think I can get in with out a carnet,
Next question is do you know of any shipping agents in Japan that would take my bike to USA,
I would also consider flying too

What I think really doesn't matter. What customs decides is what is important, and I have no say in that...
You might want to put Korea in your itinerary case you are not able to get in without a Carnet. At least you will have more options than trying to arrange shipping in Vladivostok without much time on your visa left.
See the website in my signature or the shipping section on Horizons Unlimited website for some shipping companies.
You might want to include Canada as a possible destination. For some reason, shipping companies don't like to send from Japan to USA. Maybe it is the EPA permission requirement, but I can't be sure.
Flying out of Japan seems to be very expensive.
