World Weather Map

I've got this idea -

A weather map of the world, cycling thought the months, showing climates I'd not rather ride in -

Temperatures <15C (white)
Temperatures >35C (red)

Rain > 10 days a month or say 100mm? a month (blue)

Humidity >80%RH ? (orange)

Cyclones/Hurricanes/Tornadoes (purple spots -spots as they are random)

-------
The maps would have land as a light brown, sea as light green ..

Any ideas/comments?

Does such a thing alread exist?

I know that the climate shown is the average and 'we' can expect the climate to not be average when 'we' go there but it would give an idea of the routes to use to avoid the worst. And when it is against the average it would be a matter of a shorter wait for the weather to change back towards 'normal'.

Other point is that some areas would never meet my requirenments - so maybe they should be flexiable requirements - relaxing where things are 'bad' so as to indicate the 'best' time to go there?

What say you?

I've never seen a World weather map displayed by-monthly averages.
Yes, I think it would be useful.

A danish site

Not sure if this was what you meant, but the danish meterological institute has a page where you can check out average climate data for a lot of countries/cities.

Use this link and it will take you to the Africa page. Use the navigation on the left for a different continent. All the blue dots have climate information on a monthly average. The red ones, only has a 6 day forecast.

Verdensvejr Afrika

Ofcourse, it's in danish, but you should be able to read it anyway. The blue columns represent rain on average in mm. The two horizontal lines represent day and night temperature, respectively.

There isn't an average humidity or hurricane/tornado-meter, allthough some will have listed the humidity as an average for this current week of measurement.

I haven't searched, but I doubt that DMI are the only ones who gather this information. Maybe you can find one in english?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
