East to west Timor border crossing.
Hello All
Looking for Info on the East Timor to West Timor border crossing.
Are there any special requirements other than.
Carnet de Passage
International driving licence
Motorcycle documents
Indonesian visa, I will get in Australia.
The reason I ask is I have read if you are shipping, you need a letter of invitation from the Indonesian motor association, and a letter from the police..
Are these two items also necessary to get a temporary import at a land border crossing
Any recent information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Michael.

Hey Michael,
I crossed late last year, when the requirement to inform customs just started, and I had no problem. I sent them an email saying when I was coming and what port of entry (I ended up being a week late) and just needed a visa and the carnet. Customs was informed about my proposed date of entry and was waiting.
Make sure to get the Indonesian visa (if you want to stay longer than a month) in Australia. I tried to get mine in east Timor and they refused. If you have any trouble at the border I have some friends in customs there that could help. Actually, you should meet them anyway, really good guys.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Cheers,
Jason

Hello Jason
Thanks for your reply. Will ship from Darwin beginning of December so will get my visa there. So with just the visa, carnet and rego papers it should be straightforward, could you give me the email of the customs at the border. Once I arrive in Dili I will contact them with the day I intend to cross.
Thanks
Michael
