Did you cross from Laos to Cambo - or in the opposite direction?
The problem havent been about a little tea-money afaik but about that border staff demanded a permit from official authorities in Phnom Penh. (Travelling from Laos to Cambo)
But it would be great off course if this border at least would be passable for overlanders. There are certainly a lot of obstacles in SEAsia nowadays.
