South east asia travel (insurance??)
Hey everyone!
Early next year my girlfriend and I intend to fly to Malaysia and purchase a new motorbike. Something along the lines of a Honda Wave, Honda ex5 Fi or possibly a Kawasaki KLX 150. We will each have our own motorbike. The reason why we will buy new is I have heard it's generally alot easier to get insurance and the bikes really don't cost that much. We would much rather own the bikes as opposed to renting. Ive read about a couple who purchased new bikes in Malaysia at KOK motors in Kuala Lumpur which included insurance using their passports and visas as opposed to having a residential address. Can anyone confirm that this is possible as that is the only source google seems to offer me at this stage. We intend to ride through Malaysia then cross the boarder to Thailand and return to Malaysia to sell the bikes. After that we will fly to Vietnam to do the same process again through Vietnam Laos and Cambodia but most likely with used bikes. unless the Malaysian registered bikes can enter Laos and Cambodia? I have tried to contact KOK motors in regards to the insurance with no reply. Searched google top to bottom. Youtube. Contacted Malaysian embassy all without any sort of definitive answer. Is there any possibility of shipping the Malaysian registered Motorbikes into india through to nepal? We are both from New Zealand with NZ passports.
I apologise for the huge novel above.
Cheers, Tristen
