NZ, Northland - free room for bike travellers
Hi,
Now that we have a more permanent home it's time to return the hospitality received on our trip. We have a spare room with one single bed, a mattress that would do for a night or three, tools and a garage to work in.
We would love to meet some bike travellers to exchange tall tales. Our home is just South of Whangarei. Please try to email in advance.

We are NZ bound in ten days but don't pick up our bikes for three more weeks.
After we tour the south island we will be staying in the Hamilton area for a few months. How about a ? Let you know when we are headed to the east coast.

Hi Paul,
We would love to meet you. Note we are not on the East coast, we are near Whangarei. That's in Northland. Let us know when you are in the area.

Great, I lived in NZ for a few years in the early 90's, Did the quakes shift Whangarei off the east coast of north land - hope not. Have they paved the road to the north cape yet? I'm looking forward to seeing the changes that 8 years brings.

No, we don't get quakes or volcanic eruptions here. SH1 to Cape Reinga was paved last year and the h'way through the Kauri forest a few years before that. In fact, a lot of roads have been sealed up here, but the program has now run out of money.
The other thing that has happened is that German-style bureaucracy is being rolled out.

I'm reading a book at the moment "Newest England" By Henry Lloyd, Dated 1901. The Democratic government of NZ was the envy of the world then. I doubt if the Kiwi's will let it go to ruin. At least not till we arrive !!
Cheers

Summer is here and we are still "open", although we have moved to Glenbervie, just NE of Whangarei.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
