great place in Mashhad, Iran

hi everybody
we are three motorcyclists from switzerland and just stayed 2 nights at valis place.
we highly recomend this place. Its cheap, you get fantastic food at reasonable prices cooked by his wife. she can also offer laundry service at half the price you pay in the laundry shops. cyclist and motorcyclist will be happy to park their bikes for free inside the house.
free ecotourisn tour to the nearby binalud mountains and its beautiful villages. valis father is grown up there and he knows the places very well. he will take you the a local restaurant where you can eat with the locals and try their food. you can also go for a 4wd drive or a hike or take his local guide with it,s trial bike for a enduro tour. (short 1h each village, or crossing the mountan toward Neishabour 6h).
his place might be not so central if you want to visit the holy shrine, although vali can take you with the bus (15min) there, or 30 min walk. but it is close to all facilities a traveler may need: internetcafe, shops, fruitshake bars, shopping malls etc. which you can find on the beginning of kousengy street which is a 10 min walk away.
his place is nonsmoking, but the lovers of hubblebubble can go to the nearby teahouse, which you would never find on your own.
you can get in touch with him trough email or call him on his cell fone. he speaks fluently english, french and german.

I was given Mr Vali's address through a couple of other backpackers and can recommend staying here. Im spending a few days here until my visa for turkmenistan is ready, the embassy needs 31US and 4 days to put this after i already got clearance from Ashqabat....

He even helped me to find a rear tyre for my bike... Great Stuff!

Hi Ralph

I'd be keen to hear of any other places that you found good to stay at in Iran.

Cheers

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
