Inuvik, Northwest Territories, Canada - The Best Place I "Never" Stayed
I was enroute to the Arctic Chalet in Inuvik when I wiped out on the Dempster Highway on July 5, 2010. When Judi, the proprietor, heard that I had been in an accident, she came to the hospital, but by that time I had been airlifted by Medevac to Yellowknife for surgery on my broken ankle. She tracked down my wife in Toronto and asked if there was anything she could do to help.
To make long story short, Judi and her husband, Olav, have made all of the arrangements to have my motorcycle, gear and luggage shipped back to Toronto (about 7000 kms). Because they are good friends with the shippers, its only costing me $350 Canadian.
I can't speak to the quality of their accommodations (which I understand to be excellent), but their kindness and willingness to help rates them 5 stars in my mind. Please patronize them if you are heading up the Dempster to Inuvik.
