More on Mae Sot

Ban Thai GH
GPS N16 42.800 E98 33.586
Free Wifi, nice communal place

Phannu House
Prices are 250-350 for fan rooms, depending on size.
AC rooms are 400B.
Free Wifi.
GPS N16 42.839 E98 33.724

If you want to park your bike under cover (monsoon) your chances are probably better at Ban Thai than at Phannu House.

Maesod GH:
Don't stay there if you can help it. Neighbours' dogs fought viciously all night when I stayed there.

Having processed all my GPS tracks and waypoints for inclusion in the Wanderlust GPS World Map I have uploaded the data to my web space. You can get it here:

Index of /GPS

If you use Garmin's MapSource grab Thailand.gdb.zip.
For other GPS software get Thailand.gpx.zip.

These two contain all my waypoints with comments + more than 1000 edited tracks.

Thailand.txt is a partial text file extract of the waypoints, tab-delimited, so you can either view it in Notepad or import it into a spreadsheet. Useful if you just want to read the info. It contains not just accommodation, but many other points of interest.

Most of the waypoints are my own, but I have left in Ralf and Eva's posted above and many from Fred. Ralf and Eva, if you object to this, please let me know.

Cheers,
Peter.

New to Horizons Unlimited?

New to motorcycle travelling? New to the HU site? Confused? Too many options? It's really very simple - just 4 easy steps!

Horizons Unlimited was founded in 1997 by Grant and Susan Johnson following their journey around the world on a BMW R80G/S.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
