Casa Hexagon is a nice wooden house run by Stefan a german street artist in Origami. The house is direkt at the river and has a special spirit, decorated with lots of paintings.
You can start from there to the Pumalin Park or stay a whole day in a hammok doin nothing.
There is a little shelter, but even in the garden the bikes are safe.
german, english and spanish spoken

Casa Hexagon
Could not agree more with the first remarks. This really is a lovely place to either rest after the Carrretera Austral or, as we did, relax and chill before travelling on South. The house is unique, very warm both from the fire and the welcome and has a most exquisite view of the wild mountains of the Pumalin region.
We never had the pleasure of meeting Stefan as he was in Germany at the time but his friend, Henriette (with whom we are still emailing), looked after us so well and was a really great host. Felt more like a friend's place than paid accommodation.
We miss it. Go there and you'll be glad you did.

Chaiten December 2008
As you might know, on 2nd of may 2008 Chaiten was partly destroyed by a eruption of the nearby volcano. Seven months later life is getting started in the village.
Visiting Chaiten is still worth the effort, a bit scary though. We were told that it was impossible to sleep there . But don't let them tell you shit where ever.
You can stay in Pudu Cabanas alongside the beach. Food you will find in a nearby supermarket, and ferries are crossing to Puerto Mont and Quellon-Chiloe(tuesday 10h00).

Paul and Sigrid

Futalefu
Since chaiten has pretty much been destroyed another option is futalefu. its about an hour and a half from chaiten and is incredibly beautiful. there are hostels and camping available as well as world class rafting and fishing. another option for those starting or finishing the caraterra!

We stayed a couple of days at Brisas del Mar in Chaiten. The address is: Avda. Corcovada 278. they are a small Cabana set up on the main road (left side) heading south, just after you enter town. Clean, with a kitchen and wifi. Plenty of parking for all vehicles. There is a largish supermarket on the right side as you leave town.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
