Heh heh. I got to feeling so weary at the thought of searching out lodging in Quito that I kept rolling until Banos....a nice town in a nice location with lots of options, all friendly cheap and secure.

Quito - place to stay with parking
Another place to stay, easy to find (coming from the north just take the "Centro -Sur" exit coming into town and follow "Centro" untill you end up on Av 10 de Agosto) with parking.

Quito Hostal with parking
Great little hostal, think it sleeps about 20 when full, very secure bike parking for 12 motos (650, not 1200's), you could get a landy or 2 in but not with 3 feet of gear on the roof, I measured the clearance and it's 2.2m.
$10 per person, singles, doubles and any other combo, they're more than happy to shift beds around, pretty sure all rooms are en-suite, clean and a lovely woman who runs it, guy that owns it is a top fella also, can't do enough for you.
It's not in any of the travel guides either as it's a new venture, so no backpackers

Oh yeah, no connection with them just happy to pass on info when someone does it right!

We have spent 3 nights at Hostal Petite Maison and will stay again on our return from the Galapagos. The place is immaculately clean and tidy. The Wifi is fast and they have cable TV. Security is 1st class. There is parking for a few bikes. The owner (a good bloke) told us they once had 9 bikes inside. Breakfast is available ($2.50) and they cook a good evening meal. It is an 8 minute walk to the CBD. There is a lovely quite atmosphere. Two Columbian guys, Javier and Johno run the Hostal and are extremely helpful.
Adress: Hostal Petite Maison. Jose Tamayo N21-255 between Carrion and Roca. GPS: 00 degrees 12.457' South. 078 degrees 29.515' West.

Casa Helbling
I am staying at Casa Helbling at the moment and I have to say it is one of the best hostels if have stayed since the beginning of my trip. They have secure parking for a few bikes, good beds and showers and an exellent breakfast if you want. The owner and staff are very welcoming and helpful and made me feel at home from the very beginning. And the is a good motorcycle shop just a few streets away.
As my GPS could not find the adress, here are the coordinates:
00*12'367 S
78*29'465 W
Enjoy

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
