Mexico, All or Multiple City Thread
Guadalajara -hostel de la maria (this name varies on different flyers and sites, try hostal maria too). there are apparently only two hostels in the city centre. the other one i went to first is on the first floor, so not much chance of a parking space. maria has a courtyard out the back you can park in, but you need to get up two steps to get there (my klr was fine, but i doubt a regular/sporty would be too happy scraping its tubes). otherwise park in the little square outside, you can back it into a corner and put your steering lock on. I think this one was 170pesos (aug06)
Mex city -hostel amigo #61 on the street ´isabel la catholica´ in downtown is awesome and cheap (around 130pes i think). they ´dont normally allow bikes in´ but i guess they were fine with mine for a few days. i don´t think they´d have room for two though. phone them MEX 52 55 55 123464 . these guys give you included breakfast and dinner, and free internet

Taxco, Guerrero: Hotel Posada Santa Anita (appears in Lonely Planet), Av. de los Plateros 320. Guanajuato
Casa Bertha, Callejon Tombora
Family-run hostel. Juan is incredibly friendly & helpful. Incredible views from the roof-top kitchen area. Good WiFi, free drinking water.
Single 160 Pesos, with TV/bathroom 190 Pesos. Bike-parking for one bike only! It is difficult to find, but a cab-driver should be able to guide you there for about 25 Pesos (small city).
To get from the small plaza to the parking spot (in a tiny alley in front of the hostel), you'll have to go up some individual 'steps' and take panniers off, but it's not a problem really. (Cars can't get there - ask the cab driver to direct you before you pay him).
It sounds complicated but it isn't. And it's TOTALLY wirth it.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
