America Info, Will be updated During Trip
Hi Guys
We flew our DR650 into Santiago from Canada ( after I had a BIG accident in Canada) and will be heading South to Tierra Del Fuego, and back through Chile to Bolivia, Peru, Colombia and home to Canada somhow
Lisa and I will try to update info for fellow HUBBers as and when we can, or send us an email and we will try to help you out.
Cost to fly bike with Dinesh @ Carsons(Vancouver) Edmonton to Santiago:$2700 including all paperwork.
They were OK, but i would spend an extra few hundred bucks and use Marwan at Baseline forwarding (Vancouver) He is totally on the ball with any form of shipping and will get things done asap.
the Santiago aduana were on strike today and we were looking at 48hr wait, but some persistance and handshaking got us through in and out in 30 minutes. - no cost for temporary importation into Chile.
Handling (paperwork)fees with Centurion Cargo $60 USD
Handling fees with Depocargo (Unloading) and four guys to pick up bike while I fitted front wheel $80 USD - very helpful.
93 octane gas (cheapest) is 452 pesos $1.51 CAD/litre at Santiago airport. expensive but I hear Argentina is more...
