Route to Creel

The road to Creel from El Paso is long and boring, but fast. A great alternative is to
head South from Deming, NM, through Columbus, and wind your way through the mountains. Much nicer ride!

Ferries & train from La Paz

There is a scenic train from Topolobampo/Los Mochis to Creel. We have been unsuccessful getting the bikes loaded in Creel last December, but rumor is that you *can* get them loaded at the terminal stations of Topo and Chihauha. It leaves Los Mochis at 6 a.m.

I spent a week in the copper canjon area riding trails about a month ago on my way south. A lot are navigable by even slightly dual sport bikes. (Batopilas for example) If you intend to ride parts of the 'El camino real' or go south from the road ends, you may need to be a bit more carefull. In particular, if you ride into areas growing crops you don't expect...... turn around.

Having said that, and having rebent my bike with a crowbar.. I had a fantastic time in the area and the routes and views are incredible.. even from the tarmac only roads.

I'm one-lungin' it down from Lousiana. Should leave early AM 29 Oct and cross on 30 Oct at Ojinaga. Think the only person I could link up with easily is John (bigtexrider) but he hasn't answered back to a previous post somewhere else in this labyrinth-like BB.

This board is worse than navigating Madrid all alone at the age of 19.

I will be wearing my orange shirt for those that know what that means.

Last one there is a rotten egg and will be subjected to Mexican taxi races with K7 spurring on the drivers with "Dale cana!" whilst carrying a spare in a back pocket like the hillbilly he used to be.

I hear that some limp-wristed army of one from LA is bringing the . What color is your PD by the way? Red/white/blue or B/W?

I'm waiting to see if the KLR650 I want gets bought in time to break it in and then do some little mods. Wife is having foot surgery a week earlier so have to make sure she is ok before I take off for the hills. I'll keep checking back.

Well, we all remember what happened to Cpt. America so I expect you to show up in one piece.

There's nothin' wrong with crawfish. I'd ask you to bring me some etouffee but I'd be afraid it by the time you rolled into Creel.

You have had etouffee by now right?

Anywho, I've got the same color scheme but...mine's obviously faster. :-)

Watch out for distant relatives at the chaingang gathering.... they know you've been insulting me.

BTW, Ritmo, I've reserved a tent spot at the campground, which you're welcome to either pitch a tent upon. I've been told that I do snore but have no actual knowledge of it myself. We can put the bikes in between for some kind of barrier as necessary.

I *wish* I could find a place to hand a genuine Belem hammock but that's doubtful. It's small enough that I may bring it anyway.

I am new to this group, but planning on attending the gathering in Creel. I am hoping to catch the ferry from Santa Rosalia to Guaymas, but am coming up with very conflicting information. I have been to bajaferries.com and the Sematur site but only find current info on the la Paz ferries. Has anyone else had better luck.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love.
