Argentina: Susspension specialist near ruta 40?
Hola todos!
I got a little problem, after the Careterra Austral and Paso Reballos, I am the proud owner of a not or semi functional TFX rear suspension. A modular, high-perfomance mono shock, that usually works with oil and compressed nitrogen.
What happened, my x-ring seal finally had it and the oil was pissing out. Repairs are a bit tricky in these parts (currently stuck in Perito Moreno, the town not the glacier). However we managed to open the cylinder of the shock and to exchange the seals. Everything is more or less back together as it was, got a car valve at my shock reservoir now, couldn't recharge the air with the syringe needle. But the problem is I am not sure if I have enough air (10bar/145psi) in the reservoir, as the gomeria here does not have a gauge at their compressor to measure how much is inside while you refill and as soon as you put a separate gauge on the valve for measuring the pressure drops instantly about 2 bar. Furthermore did I have to use 5W fork oil instead of the required 2.5 SAE shock oil, it's not a big issue, but also something I would not mind changing in the near future.
I will put the shock back in the bike tomorrow and hope for the best, however my confidence in the shock is at the moment gone. So in any case I would like to go to somebody (preferable nearby) who has an understanding of adjustable shocks and has the required tools to service them.
So my call here goes out for any such person to get in touch or anybody who might has such a contact to kindly pass on some details.
Cheers,
Franziska
