Hey Matt, a word of advice is to not buy new from a dealer in South America. It would be much less expensive to buy from a foreign traveler. They are easy to find in the For Sale section and they will give you a huge discount for buying there bike.
The only trick for buying it this way is getting the right paperwork. If you buy from a U.S. traveler depending on the state you can have the title transferred into your name before leaving to S.A.
Most people who buy their bike this way doctor their paperwork with photoshop but if you wanted to do it legally you could meet the seller in Paraguay where there are no import permits for foreign vehicles and then drive into the next country with the title in your name and an immigration stamp in your passport.
