A friend of ine went from Pto Barrios to Punta Gorda with a big GS. It wasn't a 'ferry' boat, but the bike was taken and loaded by hand.
I would ask at the docks.

ferry Belize to Guatemala

From Punta Gorda there is a direct connection to Pto.Barrios by passenger ( bus style) launch which will be hard work loading a bike on .AQnother poster a few weeks ago mentioned that if you call ahead with a request they will send a larger launch ,probably at more cost. A launch also comes from Livingston GT a few times per week.
From Livingston to Pto.Barrios there is a regular freight barge service which hauls cars, small trucks and all the stuff needed in Livingston. Upriver from Livingston it is small passenger launches to Rio Dulce and you may , maybe, , find one able to carry a bike.

Question why take the ferry?

We are currently in Mexico and plan to get into Guatamala from Belize in a couple of weeks, but plan to do so by road. Was just wandering why taking the ferry? are we missing something...?

It might be convenient if you're exploring southern Belice and want to jump to GT. Also, it might provide a fun adventure.

There's pilsner and there's lager..... Aren't choices great....

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
