Arica...
somehow or other I have now spent over two weeks in total in Arica - I left there for the second time a week ago after a flat battery delay. There is not much there for motorbikes, but it is a nice break from the big cities and the gringo trail.
There is just one shop that sells motorcycle parts (it is on V MacKenna - five blocks from town) and they (the guy especially - he is 81 and his daughter runs the store) were really helpful. They should point you in the right direction.
I am fairly certain that there is a motorcycle shop in town for small bikes at least, but I didn`t find it.
Another option is the Carrebieneras (ok I have destroyed the word, but I mean the traffic police). They ride BMW´s and have a workshop there. While I didn´t contact them my hotel guy thought that they would be willing to help with the battery. They should have space to store another bike.. In fact a motorcycle (F650) cop in Iquique offered up the workshop there if I wanted to work on the bike. They are a friendly bunch.
The last option is a hotel. Mine wouldn´t work (hotel mar azul) as I kept the bike in the dining room....
good luck
